A pickup truck driver drove into the front window of the Brookline Ballet School on Thursday afternoon, with his vehicle landing partially inside the building.

The 30-year-old driver told police he was trying to hit the brakes of his Toyota pickup truck, but hit the accelerator instead, causing him to strike the vehicle in front of him, drive off the road and into the ballet school at 1431 Beacon Street, according to Brookline Police Department deputy superintendent Paul Campbell.

There were no injuries, and the town’s Building Department determined the building was safe, Campbell said.

The man, whose name Campbell said he could not yet release because the investigation is ongoing, was cited for two traffic violations, a marked lanes violation and following another car too closely.

The ballet school opened in 2010 and teaches dance classes for adults and children. It was unclear if classes were taking place when the accident occurred Thursday and the school did not respond to a request for comment. By Friday morning, the window which was hit by the driver had been boarded up.
