Police are investigating after gunshots rang out on Egmont Street on Saturday night. There were no injuries, police said. They did not say whether the gunfire was targeted at anyone.

The Brookline Police Department received several reports of gunshots around 10:41 p.m. on Saturday, according to a news release. While searching the area, police found seven 45-caliber shell casings in the rear of an apartment building at 14 Egmont Street.

BPD is asking anyone with more information to call its detectives line at 617-730-2244.

Police investigations of guns being fired are relatively rare in Brookline, and this is the first such incident in 2024, according to deputy superintendent Paul Campbell. There were two reported in 2023, including a home invasion, and none in the several years prior to that.
