I want to thank Chris for his letter to Brookline.News.

I do not thank Chris because he said nice things. I thank him because he affirmed the importance of compromise. He affirmed the value in seeking common ground.

Common ground is where progress is made. And Brookline needs to make progress on many complex issues.

I have always considered Chis a friend and a respected colleague. His letter just affirms that for me.

I hope that all of us can seek and find common ground with those who we do not agree.

Please keep talking with each other, and listening.
